George DePaolo

Obituary of George R DePaolo

George R. DePaolo, age 91 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 30, 2022.

Born in Bound Brook, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary DePaolo. George married his sweetheart, Ann (Dembeski) in 1956 and together they had two beautiful children.

He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving honorably in the United States Navy.  He lived in Whitehouse Station for the past 65 years and worked for American Cyanamid in Bound Brook until his retirement in 1991.  From 1991 till 2019 he was a cherished member of the team at the Kearns Funeral Home.

A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station, George exemplified his faith in his day-to-day life.  He was generous with his time, always willing to lend a hand to those in need.  He volunteered for over 20 years with Meals on Wheels and spent many hours volunteering with the non-profit Martin House Foundation in Trenton.  He was a kind, peaceful man, and to know him was to love him.  In his youth, George loved playing fast-pitch softball, golf, and bowling.  Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing as well as spending time baking, gardening, and watching birds.  His grandchildren completed his world, and he was never prouder nor happier than when spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his two brothers, Vincent, and Michael and his three sisters, Grace, Rosie, and Josephine.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Ann, his daughter, Mary Jo (Jack) Pontarollo of Bridgewater, his son, Stephen of Lebanon and his three cherished grandchildren, Nicole (Amanda) Pontarollo, Cory Pontarollo and Kyle DePaolo.
