Dear Sallie and Connie's Family:
There are no words I can give you to express what a wonderful human Connie was throughout his life. I am devastated that I will never hear his gravelly voice again or see that inimitable smile, as if he knew all that was necessary to be a great human being. God bless you all,
Lillie Dorchak

Connie was a Certified Rutgers Master Gardener volunteer for over twenty years, . Over the years he and Sally touched the hearts of so of us. He was smart and kind and generous and funny and we have missed him tremendously these past few years. We were so fortunate to have him as a friend and fellow Master Gardener.
Just a little about his contribution to Master Gardeners and the community we serve.. As an extraordinary volunteer in Rutgers Cooperative Extension programming, he contributed more than 13,600 hours of volunteer service. During 1997, Connie spearheaded our Speaker's Bureau for Hunterdon and Somerset Counties for which he provided leadership for more than ten years. Connie was also an extremely popular speaker where his horticultural expertise, conversational speaking style, and humorous observations made him one of the most requested presenters for about two decades. His beautiful gardens, which were included in the Garden Conservancy Open Day program for years, provided photographs and topics for not only his presentations but for his regular articles in Master Gardener newsletters, citing experiences and gardening tips that made readers smile, while educating them about gardening.
Connie's generosity with his time, talent and hospitality provided inspiration for Master Gardeners and our community. The Speaker's Bureau Team, under Connie's volunteer leadership was awarded the Search for Excellence award at the Northeast Regional Master Gardener Conference in Newport, Rhode Island in 2006 and more recently during 2016, Connie was awarded the Volunteer Excellence award at the Rutgers University Cooperative Extension Conference in New Brunswick, NJ..
Tricia Deering, on behalf of Rutgers Master Gardeners of Hunterdon County.

As a fellow Master Gardner I learned when I met Connie - he was truly a force of nature. From his magnificent garden to his wonderful personality he was a great person and he will be sorely missed by Sally and his friends and family. Mary Pat MacKenzie, former MG Hunterdon County.

I met Connie as a new Master Gardener twenty years ago. What I loved most about him was his desire to share with others. He shared his beautiful garden on many an open garden day. He shared from his abundant garden many many plants for the Master Gardener plant sales. He shared his expertise in plants any chance he got whether you were walking next to him on a garden tour or listened to him speak to a crowd of avid gardeners. He shared his humor about life through his candid chats. And he shared his lovely wife, Sally, with all of us who came to know them both as kind, generous and caring people. Connie was a man who can never be forgotten. He made an impression on all who knew and loved him. May he rest In peace in God’s garden.
