My sister, Karen, was one of the most giving of all the people I have ever known. She was so thoughtful that she even sent money to me to give to people she had never met when I told her about their problems. The last thing she mailed was to a good friend of mine whom she had met only once, a "Thinking of you" card. How very typical of her! She was always thinking of others! How I miss our many phone conversations every week!
Sometimes she would say, "I didn't have any real reason for calling. I just wanted to talk to you.". Give big hugs to our Sherry and my great granddaughter, Lydia and all the rest of the family there. Join the heavenly choir! Love, Marge

I have so many great memories of Karen and Don. Karen and I both attended Drew University and begin ministry in the Hampton and Clinton areas. Her support of me and our conversations shaped who I am. Her laugh was special. Well done good and faithful servant. Steve Court

I will always remember Karen’s smile and I had enjoyed taking her bible classes in the Whitehouse united Methodist church

As I write this, tears start to fill my eyes. Rev. Karen McMartin,, who had served at one time at Port Morris United Methodist Church has passed away. Karen was a wonderful person who helped "behind the scenes". She was the one who connected me with Stanhope UMC thinking there was a place I could serve ..maybe become a deacon or be convinced to enter ordained ministry. The former was more my thing (though no opportunity came). She was there for me when I began having anxiety issues. I was scared and unsure. I think she felt a little helpless that all she could do was listen, but it was appreciated. Karen taught the usual one year intensive Disciple Bible to a group of us from three churches....that took us two years to get through! Her smile and laughter were warm and loving. She is remembered fondly.

Karen was my first mentor in the ordination process. I loved our meetings together at Teabo, and I looked forward to seeing her at every Annual Conference. Whenever I hear the "Be still and know that I am God" scripture (Psalm 46:10), I think of her, as she quoted that frequently. She spoke very highly of her family. She will be missed.
