Carmen Guastella

Obituary of Carmen J. Guastella

It is with great sorrow that the family of Carmen J. Guastella announce her peaceful passing on August 22, 2022.  She was 87 years old.

Born September 13, 1934 in Camuy, Puerto Rico, she was the beloved wife of Gerard Guastella, Sr. for 43 years.  Carmen and Jerry met and married in Manhattan, NY.  They later moved to Middlesex, NJ where they raised their family.  Carmen is survived by three of her four children, Juliana Cibelli (Lawrence), Rose Anne Palko (Michael)  and Gerard Guastella, Jr. (Sharon).  Preceding her in death was her beloved son, Joseph A. Guastella, Sr., (Clarice).  Carmen’s grandchildren include, Joseph Guastella, Jr. (Kristy), Jeanna Tchaikowitz (Ness), Jesse & Jeffrey Guastella. They loved her very much as did her great grandchildren Cortney, Joseph III, Nate, Braden, Isaac and Aurora. Carmen is also survived by her sister, Lucy Valverde, and many nieces and nephews.

Carmen was a very caring and nurturing individual who chose a career in helping others as a Nurse’s Assistant at Raritan Valley Hospital, Green Brook, NJ. She loved animals, especially dogs and her Doberman Pincher, Shalimar.  She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and even during her final days her humor and light heartedness never vanished.  As a New Yorker, she loved her Mets!

As Carmen loved to dance “cut a rug,” we take great solace in knowing she is in the heavens dancing with all of her loved ones and rejoicing in a beautiful life well lived.
