Obituary of Mary Jayakar Kondagadapu
Mary Jayakar Kondagadapu, age 92, of Raritan, NJ, went to be with the Lord at the Rehab at River's Edge in Raritan on Thursday, September 29, 2022.
Born in India, she was the daughter of the late Pastor Peter and Shanthi Kanapuram.
Mary was a teacher for 40 years at the Methodist Boys’ High School in Hyderabad, India before coming to the United States in 2004. She also served as a school administrator in Methodist Institutions in Hyderabad, India. Her passion was teaching English and Social Studies.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Jayakar Samuel in 1996 and her eldest son, Parker Samuel in 1953.She is survived by her son, Rev. Dr. David Ravinder and his wife, Sarita Ravinder; her three grandchildren: Sahan Ravinder [Sabitha Ravinder], Sanjita Livingston [Jim Livingston], and Amita Sawicki [Todd Sawicki], her great-grandchildren: Samrita Ravinder, Kieran Livingston, Sravina Ravinder, Nehali Livingston, James Livingston, and Szephan Ravinder; and her younger brother, Yesurathnam Peter.
Mary was an active member and provided leadership serving as secretary, treasurer, and President of the Women’s Society of Christian Service in India. She loved gardening and enjoyed singing Christian hymns (in both English and Telugu).
All are invited to a viewing on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home,103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.
A Service of Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 11:00 AM preceded by viewing at 10:00 AM at the Whitehouse United Methodist Church, 73 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.
Burial will take place following the service at Rural Hill Cemetery, 13 Mill Road, Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889.
All are invited for a repast at the Whitehouse UMC in Friendship Hall following the burial.
