I met Shirley in 1979 at the Hunterdon County Quilting Guild, (a 1-yr. old group), along with the Guild's other "founding mothers," all of them lovely women. For quite a few years now, Shirley was the last of these. She has always been a wonderful quilter and sewer, a generous helper, a good friend to me, and dedicated to her Church community, Over the years I've learned a lot about her family, too, and how important they were to her. I will concur with Eileen about her skill in rattling off recipes! I will miss her immensely,
To the Spildooren family, I share your grief. Please know that Shirley will not be forgotten.
With deepest sympathy

Kim and Mark,
I am so sorry to hear about your Mother’s passing. I am a member of the Hunterdon Quilting Guild and enjoyed Shirley’s expertise and knowledge about quilting. Her best attribute was the ability to give us her recipes verbatim at any given time. She could also identify the manufacturer of most fabrics by touching them. Shirley was a special person and will never be forgotten in my lifetime.
