Obituary of Esperanza De Leon Bongiovanni

Esperanza (Esper/Epe) De Leon Bongiovanni, age 48 of North Plainfield, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 25^th, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Bataan, Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Esmeraldo De Leon, Sr. and is survived by Eduarda Ramos De Leon, of Bataan, Philippines. Esper received an Industrial Engineering Degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. She came to the United States in 2001, settling in Jersey City.  One year later she moved to North Plainfield.

She owned and operated a landscape design company with her loving husband.

Esper’s first loves were her husband and daughter.  She married the love of her life, Kurt Bongiovanni, in February 2006.  They were blessed with their amazing daughter, Ella, in February 2012. 

Besides her loving mother, Eduarda, and beloved husband, Kurt, she is survived by her adored daughter, Ella, and her dear brother, Jhune De Leon, and sister, Lanie Gelvoleo.

Esper loved the outdoors and touring small country towns. She enjoyed hiking in the mountains and visiting Mount Lake. She had a place in her heart for Hunterdon County landscape.  

She had a beautiful, radiant smile that could light up any room.  She was kindhearted, gentle-spirited, and loving to everyone she met. Esper will be extremely missed by all who had the privilege to know her. 

Esper had a tremendous love for Jesus Christ.  Her profound faith never wavered.  

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at noon at the Fairmount United Methodist Church, 228 Old Turnpike Road, Califon (Tewksbury Twp.) NJ 07830.

Burial will be reserved for family only.
