Obituary of Robert E. McCoy

Robert E McCoy, Sr. passed away on November 16, 2022.  He was 96.  One of 7 children, he was born in Richmond Hill, NY to James J and Madeline (Craven) McCoy on May 2, 1926.

He was a graduate of the parochial school system, Brooklyn Prep and Boston College (BSBA Marketing).

He joined the Marines at the age of 17, and served with the 26^th Recon, 5^th Marine Division in WWII in the Pacific, in Japan and in North China.

His entire career was in advertising as an account executive with J. Walter Thompson and as an advertising representative with CBS Publications.  In 1989 he founded his own advertising firm specializing in Direct Response advertising.  He retired in 2002.

He played semi-pro football and was an avid golfer belonging to Beaver Brook Country Club.  At the age of 77 he scored a 76 and had his first hole-in-one.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Suzanne (Craig) McCoy, daughter Cecelia Hodgson (McCoy) and her husband John R. Hodgson of Warwick, NY, four grandchildren, Gregory Hodgson, John C. Hodgson, Caitlin Hodgson and Jason Sandman.  His son, Robert E. McCoy pre deceased him in March 2017.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.

Mass and burial will be held at The Church of Saint Ann, 6 Church St., Hampton, NJ 08827 on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
