Obituary of Margaret Claire Zorsky
Margaret Claire Zorsky died peacefully on November 26, 2022, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, NJ. She was 73 years old.
Margaret was the daughter of Edward Sr. and Antoinette (Chervenyak) Zorsky. She was born in Newark, NJ. The family moved to Whitehouse Station in 1952 and Margaret lived in the house that her Pop built for 70 years.
Margaret was a woman of many talents, experiences, and stories. She was truly a Renaissance woman. Margaret traveled the world, absolutely loved her gardens, loved family traditions and creating celebrations. She was joyful and hopeful, no matter what she faced. She was the caregiver for her mother and father, her aunts and uncles and their respective dogs. Her greatest joy was her family and beloved friends and the Church community. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station, since she was 3 years old. Through her lifelong faith and giving soul, she lifted up many by teaching CCD and bringing communion to the ill and homebound. She had a deep and abiding love of God and believed in service to others.
Margaret’s work experiences were varied and always focused on nurturing others. She was a high school/ college teacher, a caregiver in medical settings, a college counselor, parole officer, senior administrator in Rahway prison. Her last position was Executive Assistant to the Administrator of the adult diagnostic Treatment Center in Rahway/ Avenel prison. She was in the NJ Department of Corrections for 31 years, working on litigation, and legal matters like developing Meagan’s Law. She also created the architectural plans for her home’s additions and her brother's home. Margaret was the general contractor, as well.
Margaret’s mother and father, Antoinette, and Edward, her two brothers, John and Edward, Jr., her niece Samantha predeceased her.
She is survived by her sister, Maria Dolores of Cape Cod, MA, a niece Rachael Ann Zorsky and her fiancé, Kurt Grohl of Washington NJ, Patrick John Zorsky of Chandler AZ, Ryan Zorsky and his daughter, Amelia, of Mt. Bethel, PA. Margaret has one great niece, Amelia, who brought so much joy to her life.
Margaret is also survived by her loving caregivers and adopted sisters, Catherine Ozay and Joann Stepanchuk, and her longest best friend, Viola DeLuca.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Interment will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Bridgewater following the repast at the Church.
