Obituary of Albert W Gilliam

Albert W. Gilliam, age 87 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Holly Manor in Mendham, NJ.

He was born in Jersey City, the son of the late Joseph and Evelyn Gilliam. 

Al was a veteran of the United States Army having served from1955-1957. 

He raised his family in Edison before retiring and moving to Whitehouse Station where he was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church for almost 20 years. 

He was a lover of mechanical projects and enjoyed fixing things like old cars and tractors.  For 25 years he owned and operated Alcon Swimming Service in Edison where he employed family and friends.  During retirement, Al could be found at one of his children’s houses helping with the latest projects. 

He was predeceased by his son, John in 1983, his two brothers, Francis, and Joseph and great grandson DJ

Albert is survived by his wife, Constance; his two sons, David and his wife, Aurora, and Phillip; his daughter, Lisa M. Rao; his sister, Evelyn Shanni, his brother, Daniel Gilliam and his 5 beloved grandchildren, Jasen, Kristin and William Rao and Jessica and John Gilliam.

Friends may visit on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.  A service will be held at 6:30.

Interment will be private.
