Obituary of Gerald Miller Sellar

Gerald Miller Sellar, “Jerry” age 93 of Warren, NJ, died Monday, February 20, 2023 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Camille Hamel.

A longtime resident of NY, Jerry moved with his wife and family to Warren in 1964.  In 1993 they moved to Bedminster and a few years later to Whitehouse Station.  Five years ago, they returned to Warren, enjoying their golden years at The Chelsea Assisted Living at Warren.

Jerry was a proud veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War.  Upon finishing his tour of duty, he completed his education at Hofstra University.  He then began a 27-year career with Western Electric, retiring in 1984.

He enjoyed swimming, photography, travel, and loved to tell a good joke.  For many years of his retirement, Jerry was fortunate to be able to pursue these interests at their Naples Florida home.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Constance; his son, James and his wife, Patricia of Hillsborough; his two daughters, Jeanne Benner and her husband, Paul of Neshanic Station and Kristin Hassett and her husband, Tom of Oldwick as well as his 7 cherished grandchildren, Dylan, Caitlyn, Connor, Ryan, Sarah, Stephen, and Brooke.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a eulogy beginning at 6:45.

Entombment will be private.
