Obituary of Kenneth J Scherp

Kenneth J. Scherp, age 82 of Bridgewater, NJ, died Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Roy and Mary Scherp.

Coming from Chicago, he moved his family to Basking Ridge in 1979 and then to Bridgewater in 1993.

Ken was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bridgewater. He worked for more than 30 years in sales, marketing, and management roles for AT&T in Basking Ridge until his retirement in 1989.

Ken and his family had a summer house in Wisconsin that was affectionately called “the cottage.”  He was fortunate to be able to spend four to five months every year at “the cottage” enjoying boating, fishing, and waterskiing with his grandkids. His family and the time he spent with them, filled his life with joy. 

Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Betty; his four children, Pam Shannon of Alpharetta, GA, Donna Bunsa and her husband, Fred of Basking Ridge, Barbara Ward and her husband, Paul of New Providence, and Ken Scherp and his wife, Lauren of Southlake, TX. He also leaves behind a brother and sister, Roy Scherp and his wife, Betty and Jackie Henry and her husband, Tom as well as 16 grandchildren, Lindsay, Lauren, Michael, and Joe Shannon; Andrew, Dallas, Grace, Ella Marie, Brody, and Quinn Bunsa; Tyler and Samantha Ward; Colin, Aaron, and Ryan Scherp; and 7 great grandchildren, Ben and Emmett Bunsa; Augie, Wesley, and Hugo Bunsa; and Bethany and Isla Quense.

He was predeceased by his brother, Bob Scherp and his grandson, Zachary Bunsa.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.

A funeral liturgy will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bridgewater.

Entombment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
