Obituary of Eileen A Gronwald

Eileen A. Gronwald, nee Gillespie, 59, of Asbury, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 30, 2023. 

She was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Hazlet, New Jersey. She married her beloved husband, Bob on October 2, 1999. Eileen and Bob settled in Asbury, New Jersey where they raised their son, Robby.

Eileen was a faithful communicant, Eucharistic Minister, and Associate Director of Religious Education at Immaculate Conception Church. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Eileen was involved in STAC swim team events and cherished watching ALL of Robby’s swim meets. Eileen was a bright light that touched the hearts of everyone she encountered, always putting others first. Eileen was a "warrior" fighting her illness to the end. She was a kind soul that will be missed by all. We take comfort in knowing how much she loved her family and friends and how much they loved her.

She was predeceased by her mother Eileen A. Gillespie. Eileen is survived by her adoring husband of 23 years, Bob Gronwald, her loving son, Robby, her father, James Gillespie, sister, Catherine Hopper and her husband, Chuck, her brother, Jim Gillespie and his wife, Alita and her adoring nieces and nephews, Ryan Hopper, Marc Hopper, Charlotte Gillespie and Matthew Gillespie. Eileen is also survived by many loving and caring aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888

A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Annandale.

Entombment will be in the Church Cemetery.
