Obituary of Joseph L Mackin

Joseph L. Mackin, age 84 of Lebanon, NJ, died Sunday, May 7, 2023 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover, NJ.

Born in  Plymouth, PA he was the son of the late Adam and Florence.

Having grown up in Bloomfield, NJ he moved to Lebanon in 1967.

Joseph graduated from the University of Maryland before becoming a NJ State Trooper.  He was a Detective Sergeant working on the Organized Crime Task Force, and he was a recipient of the NJ State Police Distinguished Service Award.  Upon leaving the State Police, he began working in Corporate Security for Bell Labs and then AT&T. 

He was a tremendous athlete in his youth, excelling in football and playing at the collegiate level.  He enjoyed being in the outdoors, gardening and working on classic cars.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Patricia in 2016.  

He is survived by his two sons, James of Flemington, and Brian of Lebanon.

A service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the chapel at Immaculate Conception Mausoleum.
