Obituary of Richard S Cole

Richard S. Cole of Readington, NJ died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.

Born and raised in Readington, Dick was the son of the late Robert and Gladys Cole.

He worked for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) as a hydrologist where he got to  know every stream and gauge station in the state; and every NJ diner too!  This is how he found his favorite spot to watch the sunset in Townsends Inlet, NJ

He grew up in the farming life and attended a one-room schoolhouse on Centerville Road before attending Flemington High School.  He was a lifetime member of the Readington Reformed Church and was a charter member of the Readington Volunteer Fire Company.  He loved watching his children and then his grandchildren play baseball and football.  

He loved country music and always had a little Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Alabama playing on his Alexa device.  He especially loved listening to his boys make music in the house and perform on the stage.  He was one proud dad! 

Dick was predeceased by his beloved wife, Wilma in 2020.

He is survived by his two sons, Robert and his wife, Janet of Readington and David and his wife, Kimberly of Hillsborough; his four grandchildren, Sarah, Bobby, Brian & Kevin and his wife, Tessa as well as one great grandchild, Evalina.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Readington Reformed Church in Readington.  Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Burial will be in Readington Reformed Church Cemetery.
