My earliest memory was when I was very young and I visited Irene in her home in the Bronx and she had me listening to Johnny Mathis sing his beautiful songs like Wild is the Wind. She talked about vibrato, vocal range, and other descriptors which lead the way to a finer discernment of the intricacies of music. Then, she bought me my first record player at the age of 14, I was hooked. My love of music continues to this day thanks to Irene. She also constructed a beautiful vanity for me in my teen years and I was the envy of the girls in my neighborhood.
I remember being out in nature as she pointed out the tiny buttercup and other flowers and had me look at all the insects going about their jobs. To this day, I love nature, gardening, and I am not afraid of bugs because I am too interested in watching them. Thank you Irene.
Lastly, I want to mention that she spent a great deal of time when my two girls were growing up. She taught them singing, dancing, and putting on unique plays...just for fun. We still have those movies and they always make us smile. She was always upbeat and young at heart and she loved children and loved to teach them all about the world.
You remain with us in Spirit Irene.

I will never forget all the wonderful memories you helped us make when we were little! You taught Jessica and I how to act, dance and sing, even though we were not so good at it, we always had fun! I am so glad that we got to spend so much time together through the years! Until we meet again, I will recite what you used to sing to us before bed. "Go to sleep my little buckaroo, for the nights of the western skies will be shining down on you, don't you know it's like an acorn that an oak tree grew, so go to sleep my little buckaroo". Love you Irene, Godspeed!
