Obituary of Sean McKenna

Sean Joseph McKenna, 39, sadly passed away while at his home in Bloomsbury, NJ on September 12, 2023. A lifelong Hunterdon County resident, Sean was born and raised in Whitehouse, NJ and was well known in the community. Those that knew Sean will remember his big heart and kindness to those around him. 

Sean had a passion for music, and was a talented musician, guitarist, and songwriter. In addition to having interest in music, Sean greatly enjoyed the outdoors and loved hiking, kayaking, and snowboarding. He was a certified personal trainer and took pride in helping others with their fitness journey. He loved spending time with his friends and family and will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him. 

Sean was predeceased by his mother, Deborah McKenna, his maternal grandparents, Walter and Virginia Usher, and paternal grandfather, Robert McKenna. He is survived by his father, Peter McKenna of Carolina Shores, NC; his sister, Melissa McKenna of Conshohocken, PA; his brother and sister-in-law, Kyle and Brianna McKenna of Stockton, NJ; and his youngest brother, Conor McKenna of Carolina Shores, NC; his paternal Grandmother, Margaret McKenna of Ormand Beach, FL; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Private services will be held for immediate family only. A repast will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Rail At Readington, 157 Main Street, Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889.  All are welcome to join the family to share memories of Sean.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA), in his mother’s honor, as Sean was an avid advocate for supporting Ovarian Cancer Awareness.
