Owen King

Obituary of Owen A King

Owen ‘Buddy’ King, 91, passed away on October 12, 2023.  Owen was born in Washington DC to the late James Edward and Fanny King on September 3, 1932.

Buddy grew up in Virginia.  He met his beloved wife Linarda ‘Cookie’ King at a horse show in Long Island NY.  It was love at first sight and they married soon after in 1962.  Their marriage and bond to each other lasted 62 years.

They traveled extensively together taking care of show horses.  This included going to Europe with the Olympic team. They had their own horses that they both showed for many years.  They settled in Whitehouse Station NJ and lived there happily for many years.

Buddy was an Army veteran of the Korean War.  He spent most of his career after the war in the horse business.  He spent the last 12 years of his career working for the township of Tewksbury in the road department.  Buddy was an avid sports fan and enjoyed horse racing, bull riding, baseball and football.  He also loved watching old Westerns on TV.  He enjoyed vacationing with Cookie in their motor home and caring for their many beloved pets.  He especially loved his daily walks through town with his beloved basset hound, Happy.

Buddy will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He was a true southern gentleman.

Buddy is survived by his wife Cookie King, his brother Mike King and his wife Karen of Virginia, and his niece Doris Ulicky and her husband Andy of Stuart Florida.

Services will be private.
