Obituary of Nanci Anne Healy

Nanci Anne Healy, nee Weisz, of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, passed away on November 22, 2023.

A celebration of her life will be held in the spring, on a date to be announced shortly.

Nanci was born in the Bronx to Jack and Harriette Weisz on October 4, 1944. She graduated from Hunter College High School for gifted young women. She received a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Barnard College of Columbia University, and earned a master’s degree in literature from New York University.   After teaching elementary school for several years, she moved to the business world where she focused on corporate communications for several Wall Street banks.  More recently, she consulted on communication issues and continued to serve as the editor of the Journal of Business Strategy.

Nanci was a passionate equestrian.  She rode with her sister in Gladstone, when the U.S. Equestrian Team was located there, as well as in Essex, where Jackie Onassis hunted, although Nanci never rode to hound.  Rio, her beloved Havanese dog, lived a long life with Nanci before he crossed over the rainbow bridge last year.  A longtime animal lover, she is also survived by her Burmese cats, Scarlet and Baby.  Most recently, she rode Raffles, a lovely quarter horse.  Always on the go, she loved playing pickleball and mahjong with friends.  Where ever she went, she made friends, organized outings and prepared delicious gourmet meals for family and friends.

Nanci is survived by her son Brett, her daughter-in-law Danielle, her granddaughter Isabelle Healy, of Burlingame, California and her sister Linda Weisz of Westchester, New York.  Nanci doted on her granddaughter, traveling frequently from New Jersey to the Bay Area to celebrate every birthday, holiday, and events in between with Isa.  Her extended family of “cousins” across the country was an essential part of her life.

Her many volunteer and charity endeavors included working to advance causes important to women, including Friends of the Shelter.  She also gave her time to the Morristown Hospital Auxiliary and did communications work for the Mansion in May charity event. Memorial donations may be made to horsesandhumans.org, which seeks to advance global knowledge of horse-human interactions.
