Obituary of Harriet L Cryan

Harriet L. Cryan, age 89 of Somerville, NJ died Monday, January 1, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Born in Chester, NJ she was the daughter of the late Harry and Henrietta Sutton.

Harriet lived in Long Valley then Lebanon before moving to FL for 12 years.  She then returned to NJ in 2015 and resided in Somerville.

She worked in accounts payable for Beneficial Finance in Morristown before she retired in the early 90's.  

Born with an innate spirit of empathy, Harriet spent much of her life serving others.  Her unwavering commitment to being a companion for the elderly exemplified her selflessness and genuine concern for those in need.  Even in her later years, she found immense joy and purpose in this role, becoming a cherished friend to many while working for Anitia's Angels as an elder companion.  She loved and adored her grandchildren and imparted wisdom, love, and an abundance of laughter upon them, instilling in them the value of helping others and leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick in 2014.

She is survived by her son Steven H. Lutz and his wife, Mary Ann of Whitehouse Station, her daughter, Linda Bowman of Somerville, her four grandchildren, Kim, Jamie, Michael, and Mark;  her six great grandchildren, Brooke, Paige, Braden, Chase, Cain, and Kalleigh as well as her niece Laura, nephews Brian, and Aaron and great nephew Rusty.

A private graveside service will be held in Fairmount Cemetery in Califon.
