Obituary of Chester DeStefano

Chester DeStefano, age 84 of Whitehouse Station, NJ., died Friday, April 28, 2006 at his home with his loving family by his side. Chester was born in Newark, NJ, son of the late Augustine and Eppioleta DeStefano. Chester had lived in Rochester, NY before moving to Whitehouse Station in 1963. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Chester was the Founder and President of DeStefano Foods which he established in 1950. He was a charter member of the Flemington Elks and belonged to the American Legion Post 284 in Whitehouse and the Sons of Italy Marconi Lodge. Chester had a tremendous passion for sports. He loved to go to professional baseball and football games. He was very active in the Readington Twp. Junior Baseball League. In 1963 he started coaching and umpiring games which he did for over 23 years. His enthusiasm for the game and all sports continued on as he watched his grandchildren play. It was very rare for Chester to miss one of there games. Chester was predeceased by his 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Cecelia (Lotito) DeStefano, his loving children, Chester Jr. of Sparta, Dean of Whitehouse Station, Christopher of Ringoes, Linda Singler of Royal Oak, MI and Christine Benato of Raritan, and his 12 grandchildren and 3 great granddaughters all of whom were his pride and joy. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 9:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, April 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. and on Monday, May 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.
