Obituary of John Anthony DiTrolio

John A. DiTrolio, of Annandale, NJ, died Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, with his wife and daughter at his side.

Born in Kearny, NJ, he was the son of the late Frank and Bertha (Romano) DiTrolio. John was a resident of Hunterdon County since 1969.

John served from 1960 - 1966 in the United States Marine Corps having served at Camp Lejeune in 1960, 1961 and 1964. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6245. He was the first man to become a member of Partners In Healing, a Volunteer Support Service of the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Program and Hunterdon Medical Center (HMC) Department of Volunteer Services. His Partners In Healing group received the American Hospital Association National Award for Volunteer Excellence and the New Jersey Governors Award for Volunteerism. In 1999 John received the HMC Wescott Award as Outstanding Volunteer of the Year. He was a volunteer for the Cancer Hope Network and the facilitator for Us Too, a prostate cancer support group at HMC. He served as an Ambassador for the American Cancer Society and as President of the Prostate Cancer Coalition of New Jersey.

He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale, a founder of the church's Pre-Cana Program and Mens Cornerstone Program. He was also a former leader of Cub Scout Pack 190 and a former North Hunterdon Little League coach.

John retired from PSE&G Central Division in 2000 after 37 years.

John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cathie Ann (Slinger) DiTrolio, his son, COL Mark DiTrolio of San Antonio, TX; his daughter, Jennifer Tanner; his six grandchildren, Ariana, Cory,  Andrea, Christopher, Giovanni and Coast; his identical twin sisters, Joan Perrone of Lebanon Borough and Judy Flanigan of Harrison, NJ; and his 18 nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass was celebrated on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ.  John was interned at the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetary with his beloved wife Cathie Ann on August 5, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
