Obituary of Robert A. Briski

Robert (Bob) A. Briski, of Whitehouse Station, NJ; died Monday, July 10, 2006. He was born on February 13, 1940 in Scranton, PA, son of the late Stanley Sr. and Alvina Briski. Bob had lived in Franklin Twp. before moving to Whitehouse Station 35 years ago. He attended high school at South Scranton Catholic and graduated from St. Peters in New Brunswick. He graduated from Seton Hall University in 1961 with a degree in Finance and Business Administration. He also received a Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall, in 1966. In addition, Bob attended Fordham University while working on his Doctorate. He was certified as a teacher of Kindergarten through 12th grade and also as a principal. He taught School at St. Peters High School, New Brunswick; St. Cecilias in Iselin; Locust School in Roselle and Immaculata High School in Somerville. Bob was a Principal at Leonard V. Moore (formerly Locust School) for 14 years. Presently he was the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at Immaculata High School in Somerville. Bob was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station for 35 years and served as an usher for many years. He was a member of the New Jersey Principal and Superintendents Assoc., the National Assoc. of Elementary School Principals and served as President of the Roselle Administrators Assoc. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and a member of Council 6930 in Whitehouse Station and a former member of Council 1432 in Somerville. He served on the Union County Chamber of Commerce Educational Committee, the Union County Science and Alliance Steering Committee and the Narcotics Commission. Bob belonged to the Polish American Citizens Club in Whitehouse Station, the Somerville Elks, the Seraphic Mass Assoc. and Deborahs Bound Brook Chapter. He was predeceased by his brother, Stanley Briski Jr. He is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Carol (Giarretta), his son, Michael of Rancho Santa Marguerita, CA; his mother-in-law, Marie Giarretta, brothers-in-law, Frank and Albert Giarretta, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, a foster child Alejandro Sinai of Chile and the entire Immaculata family. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 9:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 7-9 P.M. and on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. The family has requested no flowers, please and would appreciate instead, memorial donations to the Robert Briski Good Citizenship Award at Immaculata High School, 240 Mountain Ave. Somerville, NJ 08876.
