Obituary of Mary Ellen Terry

Miss Mary Ellen Terry, age 57 of Basking Ridge and Bridgewater, NJ., died Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at Care One at Madison Avenue in Morristown, NJ. Mary Ellen courageously endured a long bout with Myotonic Dystrophy, a form of Muscular Dystrophy. She died one day after her 57th birthday. She lived in Basking Ridge for 42 years, attended schools there and was an active parishioner at St. James Catholic Church where she sang in the church choir. In October 1989, she became a resident of Union Avenue Supervised Apartments, maintained under the auspices of the Somerset County ARC. She enjoyed working at their Manville office, volunteered reading at the Jerry Davis Daycare Center, acted in amateur theatre productions and in a video Critical Crossroads which was produced to explain the works of the ARC. Mary Ellen was the daughter of the late Jean-Louis Terry who died in 1988. She is survived by her mother, Mary Olga (McCarthy) Terry and her sister Marthe Terry of Basking Ridge, NJ; a half-sister Diana Jones and her husband Lawrence of Timonium, Maryland; and a nephew and 2 nieces and their families. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James Catholic Church, Basking Ridge on Monday August 7, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. A viewing will precede the mass from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. in the Narthex of the church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
