Obituary of Daniel J. Smith

Daniel J. Smith, age 82 of Whitehouse Station, NJ. died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at the Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late Fred and Minnie (Steamer) Smith. Daniel had lived in South Plainfield before moving to Whitehouse Station, 48 years ago. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Daniel had been a machinist, working 42 years for Man-Roland Inc. in Middlesex, NJ until his retirement in 1990. Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Virginia (Hartman) Smith, his son, Daniel J. Jr. of Phillipsburg, NJ; his daughters, Laura R. Smith of Whitehouse Station, NJ; Linda V. Smith of Rocky Mount, VA; Leslie J. Smith of Orange, NJ; and Lisa J. Suriano of High Bridge, NJ; his brother, Herbert Smith of Porter, TX; and his 7 grandchildren, Eric J. Smith, Stacy Taylor, Jennifer Wierzbicki, Daniel J. Smith III, Shannon Bolorin, Kyle Smith, and Justin Taylor and 6 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Whitehouse United Methodist Church in Whitehouse.
