Obituary of James H. Shepherd

James H. Shepherd, Jr., (Sam) age 80 of Whitehouse, NJ, died Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ. Sam was born in Clinton, NJ, son of the late Harold and Marguerite Shepherd. He lived in Hunterdon County all of his life and in Whitehouse since 1952. Sam was a truck driver for many companies and was last employed by Sunrise and Delaware Valley Feed Mills in Somerville and Flemington before retiring in 1995. He was a sports enthusiast and especially loved NASCAR racing. Sam was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite (Maggie) Shepherd who died in 1997. He is survived by his son, James H. Shepherd III of Whitehouse, his brother Robert Shepherd of Flemington, and his sister, Barbara Shepherd of Bridgewater. Sam is also survived by his two grandchildren, Danielle and James H. Shepherd IV. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Readington Reformed Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to the Whitehouse Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 175, Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889-0175.
