Obituary of Robert L. Wagner

Robert L. Wagner, age 77 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at home. Born in Beavertown, PA, he was the son of the late Forry and Gertrude Wagner. Bob lived in Somerville before moving to Whitehouse Station 45 years ago. He was a sergeant first class in the Army and served during the Korean War. He was a decorated veteran who received the Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars, a UN Service Medal and a Combat Infantry Badge. He was a Supervisor for the Bridgewater Department of Public Works until he retired 13 years ago. Bob built his own house as well as an addition for his son. He was known as a Jack of all Trades and did mission work in Haiti. Bob was Scout Master of Troop 1 in Fairmont and was a trustee of the Bridgewater United Methodist Church where he also remodeled part of the church. Bob was very active with the American Legion Post #12 in Somerville where he was a member for over 50 years. He was a past Commander and Captain of the Color Honor Guard. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Patricia of 49 years, who died in 2001; his daughter, Denise Wagner, who died in 1963 and his son, Robin Wagner, who died in 1993. Bob is survived by four sons; Bruce, of Honeybrook, PA; Denis of Harvard, MA; Kerry, of Whitehouse Station, and Ned, of Califon, NJ . He is also survived by his sister; Margaret Stroup, of Lewistown, PA; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, February 18, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday February 19, 2007 at the Bridgewater United Methodist Church, 651 Country Club Rd., Bridgewater, NJ. Burial will be in Rural Hill Cemetery in Whitehouse.
