Obituary of Curt Embley
R. Curtis Embley, age 68 of Somerville, NJ, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at home.
He was the son of the late Ralph and Gladys Embley. Born and raised in Bound Brook, Curt moved to Somerville over 20 years ago.
He served in the Coast Guard for four years where he was a Radioman 2nd Class.
He was a Police Officer for the Franklin Twp Police Department in Somerset County during the 1970s and retired in 1981.
Curt was a very active member of the American Legion Post 284 of Whitehouse. The Legion was like a second home for him and if you needed to find Curt thats where he was. He helped with the pancake breakfasts, catered events and could also be found tending the bar. Curts dedication lead him to be a Past Post Commander from 1988 to 1996 except for the years from 1991-1993 when he served as the County Commander for Hunterdon County. Curt again took command as the Post Commander and has held that position since 1999.
Curt is survived by three sons; Curt of Port Charlotte, FL; Gary of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Todd of Naples, FL; a daughter Jennifer Guerra of Somerville; two sisters; Marilyn Zabawa of Bound Brook and Barbara Flower of Drums, PA and a brother Wayne of Tampa, FL. Curt is also survived by 6 grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family Monday, April 9, 2007 from 4:00 to 7:30 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. A funeral service by the American Legion will be held immediately following the visitation at 7:30 PM, at the funeral home.
