Obituary of Herbert F Sager

Herbert F Sager, age 87 of Whitehouse, NJ, died Thursday, April 19, 2007 at the Rolling Hills Care Center in Lebanon. Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late William and Lillian Sager. Herb lived in Elizabeth and Somerville before moving to Whitehouse in 1954. He was married in 1945 to Anna Anderson whom he spent 52 years with before her death in 1997. Herb served in the Army during World War II from 5/25/1944 to 11/21/1945 and was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division. He was a POW in Germany from 1/23/45 to 4/28/45. Among other medals and citations, Herb was awarded the Bronze Star. He attended Albany High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. Herb was a chemist employed by American Cyanamid of Bound Brook, NJ. He worked in the Paint Pigment Department for over 40 years until his retirement in 1982. Herb was an accomplished chess player through college and was an avid bowler who had belonged to a couple of local leagues. He was a generous man who loved his family. Herb was also a Charter member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Somerville. In addition to his wife, Anna, he was predeceased by his daughter, Martha Sinibaldi and his brother, Frederick. Herb is survived by his son in-law John Sinibaldi of Bridgewater; his sister Betty Elizabeth Logan of Albany, NY and two grandchildren, Amy and Robert Sinibaldi, both of Bridgewater. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, April 22, 2007 from 2-5 PM at Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway, Whitehouse. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with the burial immediately following at Rural Hill Cemetery, Whitehouse.
