Obituary of Jack Valenza

Jack Valenza, age 86 formerly of the Bronx and Basking Ridge, NJ, died Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ. Born in Manhattan on January 29, 1921, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Giuseppa Valenza. He lived in the Bronx for over 50 years before moving to Basking Ridge 11 years ago. Jack had owned a salvage company in the Bronx for over 30 years. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Post 1125 in Crestwood, NY and the Fifth Army Association. When Jack moved to Basking Ridge, he was very active with the Bernardsville Senior Center. His wife, Marie who died in 1998, predeceased Jack. His two sons, Anthony of Naperville, IL; and Jack of Chester, NJ; his daughter, Loretta Malara of Whitehouse Station, NJ; three sisters, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive him. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. Burial will be in St. Raymond's Cemetery, Westchester, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local V.F.W. or American Legion Post.
