Obituary of Frank W. Wright

Frank W. Wright, age 83 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Friday, August 17, 2007 at home. Born in Montclair, NJ, he was the son of the late Thomas and Genevieve Wright. Frank had lived in Watchung for over 50 years before moving to Whitehouse Station in 2003. He was one of the founding members of the Watchung Rescue Squad. Frank was also a member of the WatchungVolunteer Fire Department. He joined the Watchung Police Department in 1946 and in 1958, while serving as Captain of the Police Force, he graduated from the FBI Academy. In 1967 Frank was promoted to Chief of Police and served his community until retiring in 1977. He was a member of the NJ State Association of Chiefs of Police. After his retirement from the Police Force, he joined the Somerset County Sheriffs Office and retired as Undersheriff in 2000. Frank had a fifty year career in Law Enforcement. He also served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the Signal Core. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Wright who died in 2005 and his sister, Lucille Allen. Frank is survived by his daughter, Fran Wright of Hackensack, NJ; his two sons, Tom Wright of Whitehouse Station and Bob Wright and his wife Peg and their three sons, David, James and Jonathan of Whitehouse Station. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.
