Walter Chroback

Obituary of Walter Chroback

Walter A. Chroback of Clinton Township entered everlasting life on May 27, 2008. He was a devoted loving husband to Joyce his wife of 49 years, a dedicated father, adviser and best friend to his children Karen, Brian, and Brad. Walt adored his daughter-in-law Eileen and grandchildren, Colleen and Kevin along with Brads girlfriend Erin. Walt treasured his family most of all, they were his pride and his legacy. Each Sunday he could be found surrounded by his loved ones. Walt was a huge Yankee baseball fan and loved college basketball. He and his boys could be found either watching sports or participating in them. He and his daughter had a very special warm and loving bond. Although Walt traveled extensively, his best vacation was the week he took his family to the Jersey Shore. Walt worked in the electrical supply industry for 40 years. He owned and operated Acme Electric and Supply Co. He ended his career with Leviton Manufacturing Co. and was retired two years ago. His many years in the field had earned him many friendships that he greatly valued. Living in Hunterdon County for the past 36 years afforded him many opportunities and he contributed to the growth and development of this area. His two term presidency of Kiwanis International was a source of pride and satisfaction. He was always available to his family, his church and his community. As a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes he was active in parish ministries. Walt was an antique car buff and owned a 51 Chevrolet. He could often be seen in his driveway working on his car. An avid gardener, his neighbors would see him riding his tractor during his lawn cutting excursions. During a routine physical in January Walt was diagnosed with colon cancer. He fought a very brave and aggressive fight undergoing both chemotherapy and radiation at the same time. The treatment compromised his immune system and he developed pneumonia. After a short hospital stay he passed on May 27, 2008. In lieu of flowers, the family strongly urges that donations be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 390 Route 523, Whitehouse Station, NJ 08888 or to the Stand Up to Cancer Organization, www.standup2cancer.org. Friends may visit with the family May 31, 2008 at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. A funeral liturgy will be immediately following at 9:30 AM. Entombment is private.
