Obituary of James Warren Wright

James (Jim) W. Wright, age 80, died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the Mirota Senior Citizen Apartments in Whitehouse Station, NJ where he resided for 4 years.He was born in East Orange, NJ on April 15, 1928, the son of Warren D. and Anna L. Wright and resided in Garwood, NJ for 44 years prior to moving to Whitehouse Station.He graduated from Essex County Vocational and Technical High School in 1946 and worked for General Electric in Caldwell, NJ as a Service Technician for 35 years, retiring in 1988.Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 serving during WWII as a Fireman First Class and was honorably discharged in 1948.He was a lifetime member of the New Jersey State Firemans Association. He served from 1961 to 2004 with the Liberty Hose Co. No. 1 Garwood Fire Department and was Fire Chief in 1978 and 1979.Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Norma Wright of Whitehouse Station, a son Jim Wright and his wife Ellen OConnell of Danville IL, a daughter Karen Gartling and her husband Dan of Ringoes, 4 grandchildren, Claire and Matthew Wright and Kevin and Gary Gartling, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Bill Wright.There will be a brief service at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway, Whitehouse.
