Obituary of Steve Yacus

Steve Yacus, age 89 of Clinton Twp., NJ, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at home.Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Constantine and Anna Yacus.Steve was a resident of Warren Twp. for 46 years before moving to Clinton Twp. 15 years ago.He was a Navy Veteran of WWII where he served in the Pacific Theatre and was a PT Boat Commander in the Philippines.He was a salesman for Almco in Newark before retiring in 1984. Steve belonged to the Ukrainian American Veterans Group in Union and was a member of the Washington Valley Volunteer Fire Department for 45 years. He was an outdoor enthusiast who loved fishing, boating and his motor home. He was a self- taught repairman and was able to fix anything just by reading the manual. He believed if a man had built it a man could fix it.Steve is survived by his wife, Olga; his son, George Yacus and his wife Alana of Chesapeake, VA; his daughter, Daria Yacus Kingman and her husband Albert; his grandchildren, Rachel and Kyle Kingman, Lara Chapman and George Yacus II; and two great grandchildren.A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 309 Rt. 523, Whitehouse Station, NJ.Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.For more information or to send condolences please visit www.kearnsfuneralhome.com
