Obituary of Kathleen F Mays

Born Kathleen Florence Carney on November 13, 1947 to Mary Reilly and John Carney in Brooklyn, New York where she was raised with her beloved sister Eileen Carney.Kathleen attended Holy Family Grade School and St. Brendan High School. In 1966, she married Joseph Mays, moved to Union, NJ and began working for Schering Plough Pharmaceutical. In 1973, Kathleen graduated Union County College and moved to Readington, NJ. After divorcing Mr. Mays, she married Robert George Wachendorf with whom she had a son Robert Todd Wachendorf in 1978. In 2000, she moved from Readington to Brick, NJ. She retired from the Global Quality Control division of Schering Plough in 2008, after 42 years of work. Kathleen was a strong woman who was dedicated to work and family. She was an avid reader who also loved traveling, sailing, cooking and going to the beach and living on the Bay.After a 14-year battle with breast cancer, she passed away February 6, 2009 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital.Beside her son Robert and his wife Kristine Milling and her sister, Eileen and brother-in-law, Robert Mainella she is survived by her grandchildren, Aubriana Mae and Alexa Renae Wachendor,f whom she adored, and many cousins and friends.A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ.
