Obituary of Victor J. Fuzo

Victor J. Fuzo, age 93, of Whitehouse, NJ, died Wednesday, May 20, 2008 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington, NJ, surrounded by his loving family.Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Francis and Margaret Fuzo. He was a resident of Whitehouse since 1954. He retired in 1980 from the Central Railroad of New Jersey and Conrail after 43 years of service. He held the positions of Labor and Legislative Representative for the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks. He also retired in 1980 from the Hunterdon Medical Center where he worked in the Security and Emergency Departments for 10 years.He was a Corporal in the United States Army serving in the European Theater during WWII. Victor was an integral part of many service and community organizations throughout Hunterdon County and the State. Most notably he was a member of the American Legion Post 284 for over 62 years; he served as its Commander and in other executive positions. He was a member of the Whitehouse Rescue Squad for 20 years and achieved the status of exempt member. He served the Squad as Captain and President. Victor was a Chairman of the Hunterdon County Rescue Squad, the Radio Advisory Committee and served on the By-laws Committee of the New Jersey State Council. As a member of the National Research Council he helped to establish the 911 Communications System. He gladly served as President of the Little League in Hunterdon County. Victor was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, the late Mathilda Fuzo who died in 2006.He is survived by his three sons, John of Warren, OH; Victor G. of Roselle Park and Frank of Flemington, his daughter, Margaret Iwicki of Flemington and his sister, Marie Spinelli of NY. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: Seeing Eye, P.O.
