Obituary of Richard Charles Grineau
Richard C. Grineau, age 64, of Whitehouse Station, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 14, 2010.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, February 20th, at 2 P.M. at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ.
Richard, son of the late Irene and Charles Grineau, was born in Somerset, England. He lived in England and in Edinburgh, Scotland before coming to the U.S. in 1988.
He graduated with Honors from the University of London, England with a degree in Economics.
Richard retired from the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies in 2006 after 33 years of distinguished service. He was a goal-driven professional and respected leader in international business and market development in many regions around the world, including Latin America, Southeast Asia, China, Japan, Eastern Europe, Russia, and Australia. Richard was Director, International Marketing, and served as a member of the Management Board for Johnson &Johnson Wound Management, and the Global Management Boards for Ethicon Products, Women's Health, and CardioVations, divisions of Ethicon Inc. He was the recipient of numerous awards from Johnson & Johnson, including the Gold Award for Marketing Excellence and the Gold Award for Contributions to Business Excellence. While at J&J International, Richard developed the surgical sutures and endomechanical businesses in Russia and Eastern Europe starting in 1979. He was instrumental in developing the China Project for Ethicon LTD in Scotland starting in 1983.
Richard was an avid skier and sailor. He enjoyed cycling in the NJ countryside, traveling, and outdoor activities. He is remembered for his keen knowledge of history and world politics, his ability to organize and provide technical training for colleagues and surgeons throughout the world, and for his intellect and sharp wit.
Richard is survived by his sister Janice Kunkel and her husband Tom of Sarasota, FL, his aunt Elsie Cox and several cousins in England, his companion, Eve Haligowski, and his dear friends throughout the world.
