My prayers and sympathies go out to the family of Mr. Soley. I knew him from 1973 to 1977 when I went to St. Pius X High School. I never had him for class, but I really enjoyed him, especially any of the times he caught me chewing gum and made me pay him a quarter. I called him a few years ago and he sounded so happy. He told me he took his two dogs for a walk every day and had never been to the doctor except once when he had a stomach problem. He said he was enjoying retirement and he enjoyed teaching and was genuinely touched that I called him to thank him for his years of service. I was saddened by his loss and thankful for his life dedicated to children. God bless the family and thank you for sharing him.

My grandpa, he was the most loving person with a strong heart, strong sense of humor, strong personality, and strong religious believer. He was a huge part in our family and loved us very much. He loved his life, his sons and daughters, his grandchildren and his animals. He was always animated with the most original jokes which our family heard over and over for many years! He will be missed greatly and I was honored to have such a wonderful grandpa for as many years as I did. I love you grandpa! You were an amazing man. God bless you. You will be remembered forever in my thoughts and prayers. Love always, Kelly

My condolences to Mr. Soley's family. He is one of the few teachers I remember so much detail about. He would sing "Don't walk away Renée everytime he saw me in the hallway". His humor was that of which you couldn't not smile. In college, I realized how much I loved to write and I always thought of him as a teacher. I am sure he has touched countless peoples lives.

Mr. Soley was my 10th grade English teacher, and the person responsible for my continuing to write poetry after I had been completely turned off to English by my teacher the year before. Come to think of it, he was the ONLY English teacher I liked in HS, and I absolutely adored him! His constant encouragement and warm demeanor got me back to writing again, enough so that I made it into the Arts High School program for Creative Writing the following year. Thank you so much, Mr. Soley--I loved you, I am eternally grateful, and I will NEVER forget you!

"Sorry doesn't walk the dog; Sorry doesn't butter the biscuit." Mr. Soley said that often to our English class and I always think of him when I hear or say those words. You will be missed Mr. Soley, Rest in Peace

I just remembered one more good story with Mr Soley. I hid a crib sheet behind my knit tie, and upon walking into his classroom, he decided to flip up my tie, revealing the cheat sheet. He had never done that before that day, so it was like he had ESP or something. He ended up giving us an "open book test." So there was no need to cheat. He really was a great man. My condolences.

Mr Soley was an outstanding English teacher at St Pius High school. I had him back in 86. He tried for 4 years to catch me smoking in the boys room, but I was just to slick. Mr Soley, you now know for a fact that I was smoking. RIP Mr Soley.
