Obituary of Norman R. Fisher Sr.

Somerset, NJ Norman R. Fisher, Sr., passed away on Thursday morning, September 2, 2010. He was born on April 23, 1926 to the parents of Raymond R. and Anna (Van Doren) Fisher. Norman was a direct descendent of the Revolutionary Patriot, Hendrick Fisher. He had lived in Somerset for 70 years. He served on the USS PC1167 on antisubmarine patrol in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He also served on the Board of Education in Franklin Township as well as Councilman, Planning Board and eventually Mayor. Norman worked for NJ Bell for 30 years. When he retired he started in 1981, Norman Ray Fisher Electric with his two sons. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Jane (York) Fisher, his two sons, Norman R. Fisher Jr. and his wife, Amy and Wayne Fisher and his wife, Maria and his daughter, Sue Granski. He was the proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Grout of New Mexico and Glen Anderson of New Hampshire. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. All funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
