I am so sorry, I just cale across the news while trying to get an address to send a Christmas card! I know I disappeared for complicated reasons, but not a week went by where I did not terribly miss all of you. My most sincere thoughts are with you Mary, Betty, Angela, Karen, Deborah and all that loved John. I missed him so much. He was the highlight of every holiday. We could misbehave together and just have a blast. He was so loving, caring, thoughtful, funny, and irreverent - in a good way! I may not have been family, but I will keep him, and all of you, in my heart forever. He was one-of-a-kind and my five years spent with him and all of you are cherished in my memory. I have missed him terribly, and now that I know it is too late to reconnect, I am crushed. I know this holiday season will be hard - my prayers and thoughts will be with you. He would want everyone to get together and tell all the amusing stories about him. Like when he had to take care of the parrot all by himself (Petie?) and he made a suit of armor. Or when he had to try to change a diaper and changed his mind and went outside and mowed the lawns and played dumb. I send my love to each and every one of you and wish there was something that I could do to ease your pain. I felt closer to you than I did much of my own family - John was the fun uncle I didn't have. I am so sorry for all your pain.

John was a great guy and a wonderful friend. I wish Liz and I had found out sooner as we both would have liked to come to the viewing and pay our respects.
John, you'll be missed by everyone that knew you.
God speed my friend!

John was the type of person you would be honored to have as a friend. We always enjoyed seeing him at the front door of Zion Lutheran Church. He would hold Eleanor's bag and little battery powered fan, and escort her to her seat.

We will remember John as friendly and gracious and always with a smile - even when he was giving you a little dig! We will miss him at the door to Zion each Sunday morning. Our love goes out to Angela and the entire Nicodemus family. May God grant you His peace, as we know He has to John.

I'll always remember John as a guy that was Very Generous and Classy with just the right amount of crude and rude. A very good friend. I'm gonna miss him.
