Obituary of Mary Rose Lukas
Mary Rose Lukas, 101, of Flemington, NJ, died Thursday, November 4, 2010 at her residence at Independence Manor.
She was born in New York City and was the daughter of the late Frank and Maria Comploier. She had lived most of her life on Long Island, moving out of state for the first time when she was 100.
She worked for Sperry Gyroscope Company, where her secretarial skills, organization, and efficiency were balanced with her sense of humor and fine work ethic.
She had a talent for and loved to crochet. Her intricate patterns and designs were appreciated by all who were amazed by her work. Her afghans keep many friends and family warm.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known to all as Oma. Her husband, Gottfried, predeceased her in 1999.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Collins, of Whitehouse Station; her daughter, Val Berglund, of Charlotte, NC; and her son, Fred Lukas, of Lake Grove, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kerry Morin, Ryan Collins, Lars Berglund, Kristin Berglund, Eric Lukas, Darren Lukas, and Vivian Lukas. She had 5 great-grandchildren, Hailey Morin, Deklan Morin, William Berglund, Mary Lukas, and Tristan Lukas. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010, from 5-8pm at Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 9:30am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station.
