Obituary of Irene M. Monahan

Irene M. Monahan, age 91 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, went home to be with her Lord on Monday November 29, 2010. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Irene graduated from Dickenson High School. She began a career at an early age first as a book keeper and later the office manager of an insurance agency, and an officer and life member of the National Association of Insurance Women. Irene retired in 1985. Mom loved family, friends and travel, especially driving. She always put others ahead of herself bringing God, hope and caring to all those she touched. Mom was a devout Catholic and attended daily mass for most of her life. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and had a ministry of prayer even to her final hours. Irene was predeceased by her husband, James, her sister, Viola Trenta, her parents, Sophie and Stefan Bembenek and her grandson David. She is survived by her children, Irene and Joe Stevens, Claire and Jack Kleiber, Jim and Diane Monahan, Steve and Debra Monahan, Judi and David Landry. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.
