Carol visited me at Solaris Gallery, or I would sit with "the girls" at Califon Fine Foods after their Saturday morning walk along the trail. She was one of my first customers when I opened 7 1/2 years ago, and was immediately (and always) a favorite. We shared silly stories and always laughed, and I hope she knew how special she was to me and how much I enjoyed her company. Some people have a special light, and Carol was one of those special people.
I will always keep her in my heart and thoughts, and send my heartfelt condolences to Ray and those closest to her.

All of Carol's friends and colleagues at Merck were so deeply saddened by her passing. She was very dedicated to her work and even in difficult times always looked on the bright side and kept her great sense of humor. She had a very generous and thoughtful spirit. We will keep her in our hearts and memories. May the peace of God be with you Ray in this very difficult time. Sincerely, all of Carol's Merck colleagues.

Carol was there for me through a very difficult time in my life and one of the most supportive, empathetic, sympathetic, patient, understanding and caring individuals one could know. The world was fortunate to have her, and anyone who knew her at all have suffered a great loss. Her sense of humour and character will always be with us.

The Dash -- I read of a man who stood to speak At the funeral of a friend He referred to the dates on her tombstone From the beginning to the end. He noted that first came her date of birth And spoke the following date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all Was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time That she spent alive on earth... And now only those who loved her Know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own; the cars, the house, the cash, What matters is how we live and love And how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard... Are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left, That can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough To consider what's true and real, And always try to understand The way other people feel. And be less quick to anger, And show appreciation more, And love the people in our lives Like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect, And more often wear a smile... Remembering that this special dash Might only last a little while. So, when your eulogy's being read With your life's actions to rehash... Would you be proud of the things they say About how you spent your dash?

Carol was one of the few people I know who you could just sit and talk with for hours and it felt like minutes. She loved her husband, her friends, her career, her home, and made you feel so comfortable and good about yourself just being in her presence. Thank you Carol for being so wonderful. Words seem so inadequate to express the sadness we all feel.

Dear Ray,
We were so blessed to have known Carol and will truly miss her. She was a wonderful person and such an inspiration. In her own quiet way she did so much for so many people and organizations but she never wanted the recognition. Her humbleness and generosity made her who she was, an angel.
Our Saturday walks were spent sharing our stories, ideas, solutions to the world's problems and whatever else there was to discuss; with almost each and every step we took one of us was talking and the others listening. Along with the countless hours of non-stop talk, I will always remember all of the laughter that we shared too. She had a great laugh!
We will miss her but know in our heart that she is at peace in the glory of heaven. God bless you and your family.
Ellen and Jim
