Obituary of Lucy Lentz Scanlon
Lucy Lentz Scanlon, age 98 of Branchburg, NJ, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL.
Born in Rahway, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lucy Lentz. She had lived in Rahway and Westfield before moving to Branchburg in 1968. She also enjoyed her vacation home in Geiger Key, FL.
Lucy was the former president of D&L Contracting Company in Somerville. She and her late husband owned Scanlon's Farm in Readington. Lucy was still active in the day to day operations of the farm, until her death. She also had her horse, King as a companion on the farm. In her younger years, Lucy would love nothing better than to be out on the water. She loved boating and water skiing.
Lucy was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Scanlon in1980 and her beloved brother, Charles Lentz who was killed in action during WW II while in Normandy.
She is survived by her sons, Robert of Frenchtown and Francis and his wife, Carol Ann of Readington. She is also survived by her niece, Judy Lentz Scherf of Mullica Hill, NJ and her 5 grandchildren, Jeanine, Robert John, Francis, Thomas and Jeffrey and 8 great grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church, Bradley Gardens.
Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bridgewater.
