Obituary of Grace I. Di Stefano

Grace I. Di Stefano, age 84 of Whitehouse, NJ, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at her home. Born in Peoria, IL, June 20, 1926, she was the daughter of the late E. Leslie and Arlene Jimison. Grace attended Bradley University and entered the cadet nurse corps in May of 1945. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Methodist Hospital in Dallas, TX. She also attended SMU in Dallas TX. She belonged to Chi Omega sorority. In 1948 she married the love of her life, John and moved to Roselle Park, NJ where they resided for 20 years. In 1969 they moved to Whitehouse. While living in Roselle Park,Grace worked as a private duty nurse and an operating room nurse for Beth Israel and St. Elizabeth's Hospitals. When she moved to Whitehouse she worked at the Bridgeway Care Center and the Eastern Star Nursing Home as a night charge nurse. She was a world traveler visiting 7 European Countries, Mexico, Hawaii, Bahamas and Canada. She loved to travel, read and sew. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Di Stefano who died in 2003. Grace is survived by her three children, John Di Stefano of Freehold, NJ, Cookie Di Stefano of Whitehouse and Judith Di Stefano of Austell, GA, and her sister, Ruth Kamp and her husband, Ted of Fort Pierce, FL. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.
