Obituary of Florence Miktus

Florence Miktus, age 89 of Somerset, NJ, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater Twp., NJ. Born in Plainfield, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Alfonzo and Elizabeth Pirozzoli. Her sister, Rose M. Spinelli lives in Whitehouse Station. Florence had lived in South Plainfield, Warren Twp., Branchburg and moved to Franklin Twp. in 2004. In her younger years Florence was a seamstress. She had a true love of animals and volunteered at the Somerset County Dog Obedience Club where she trained German Shepherds. She also volunteered at St. Hubert's Giralda Animal Shelter in North Branch. She loved to square dance and belonged to the Flutters square dancing group of Hunterdon County. Florence was predeceased by her husband, John Miktus. Besides her sister, Rose, she is survived by her four brothers; Cosmo Pirozzoli, Nunzio Pirozzoli, Louis Pirozzoli and Alphonzo (Chip) Pirozzoli. Florence is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Popcorn Park Zoo, PO Box 43, Forked River, NJ 08731.
