Obituary of Edna Gergely

Edna Gergely, age 89 of Flemington, NJ, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington, NJ. Born in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Ella Gergely. Edna had lived in Whitehouse Station most of her life. She was the head bookkeeper for the Essex County Welfare Board before her retirement. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She belonged to the senior chorus and took art lessons at the Senior Center in Flemington. She was a very talented painter. Edna was predeceased by her brother, Harry Gergely. She is survived by her sister, Connie Doerffel of Gainesville, FL and 2 nieces and 3 nephews and several great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her good friend, Louise Shoemaker who helped Edna in so many ways. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 8:30 AM at the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will immediately follow at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange, NJ In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations to the Shrine Hospital, 3551 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140-4105.
