Obituary of Kathryn Bell

Kathryn Bell, age 80 of Basking Ridge, NJ, died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Care One at Ewing in Ewing NJ. Born in East St. Louis, IL, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Kathryn Diestelkamp. Kathy grew up in Collinsville, IL and lived in different parts of Illinois before moving to Basking Ridge in 1966. She was a communicant of St. James Church in Basking Ridge where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and helped with the training of new altar servers. Kathy served on the Diocesan Perceiver Board and was the Assistant Director for the Deacons' wives. She was predeceased by her husband, Deacon James S. Bell who died in October of 2010. She is survived by her son, James S. Bell, Jr., and his wife, Margaret of West Chicago, IL, her daughter, Catherine Powers Massarelli and her husband, Kevin of Ewing, her brother, Edward Diestelkamp and sister, Patricia Wallace both of Alton, IL. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Rosheen, Brendan, Brigit, Caitlin and Brian and her 3 great grandchildren, Eden, Wyatt and Brogan. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Narthex of St. James Church. A funeral liturgy will immediately follow in the Chapel at 11:00. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Kathryn, to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen, 319 Maple Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861, Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Hwy. 28, Whitehouse.
