Obituary of Walter Puzio

Walter Puzio, age 91 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington, NJ. Born in Wallington, NJ, he was the son of the late Frank and Eva Puzio. As a young child he moved to Poland and returned to the United States in 1938 at the age of 18. He lived in Somerville, NJ and worked as a baker. He was commissioned into the United States Army on August 22, 1942 and was part of the 20th Strategic Air Force Division in Guam, discharged in June, 1945. He received the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Upon returning to the USA he met and married, Sophie Borys on June 12, 1948. He became a building contractor retiring in 1980. Walter loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, cooking and hunting. He was predeceased by his brother, Chester Puzio. Besides his wife Sophie, Walter is survived by his son, Walter Puzio, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Saylorsburg, PA and his daughter, Theresa Wolenski and her husband, Joseph of Whitehouse Station. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mary Kruczek of Whitehouse Station and Stella Koziel of Poland and his four grandchildren, Matthew, Alexander, Victoria and Christopher. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bridgewater.
