Obituary of Dorothy O'Sullivan

Dorothy Gunn O'Sullivan, age 78, of Readington Twp, NJ, died, Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her loving husband of 60 years and seven children. Born in Harrison, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Hugh S. and Dorothy (Feeley) Gunn. Dorothy was a long time resident of Rutherford, where she raised her family, prior to moving to Readington Township in 1978. While raising her seven children, Dorothy returned to school and was graduated Cum Laude with both BS and BA degrees in Education from Farleigh Dickenson University in 1976. She was a business teacher and taught at various schools. Dorothy was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians of Somerset County and had been a member of the Altar Rosary Society at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Dorothy had remained an active alumnus of St. Mary's High School in Rutherford. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Christopher, her four sons; Christopher S. Jr., of Metairie, LA. Michael H. of Catonsville, MD, William J. and Kevin P. both of Readington Twp., and her three daughters; Dorothy O. Moody of Ocoee, FL, Margaret E. of Whitehouse Station and M. Susanne Anderson of Ellicott City, Maryland. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Walter Gunn of Greensboro, NC and her sister, Eileen Stewart of Albuquerque, NM and her 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brother Hugh P. Gunn, her sister Bernadette Brand and her grandson Conor O'Sullivan. A viewing will be held for Dorothy at Kearns Funeral Home on Thursday November 10, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Annandale.
